Two giant pandas landed at Edinburgh Airport yesterday, on their way to their new home at Edinburgh zoo, with all the razzmatazz that you'd expect for a couple of top celebrities.
The eight year old pandas Tian Tian ("Sweetie") and Yang Guang ("Sunshine") will be resident in Edinburgh for the next ten years.
The arrival of the breeding pair is being seen as a way of safeguarding the future of this endangered charasmatic species.
"But this is about much more than conservation. It is also about science, culture, education and above all friendship and partnership," said Liu Xiaoming, Ambassador of China.
Panda diplomacy is alive and well, as the above video illustrates.
The zoo hopes its new star guests will boost flagging visitor numbers.
The giant pandas - currently recovering from a spot of jet lag - will go on display from 16th December to pre-booked visitors with a panda cam due to go online in a few days.
