Susan Boyle Dreamed a Dream, but ultimately ended up coming second to breakdance group Diversity in ITV1`s Britain's Got Talent final earlier tonight. The singer from Blackburn, a small village in West Lothian, who stunned audiences with her rousing singing voice in auditions, becoming an overnight global sensation, was widely expected to win the competition earlier tonight.
However, the pressures of instant international stardom for the single volunteer church worker who lived alone with her cat, began to show in the run-up to the finals when she reportedly swore at journalists and threatened to leave the show.
She didn`t, although the flare-ups may have caused her to lose favour with the voting public.
After a confident reprise of her audition number "I Dreamed A Dream" from Cats, the judges praised Boyle for facing her critics. "You had every right to walk away from this and you could have done," said Simon Cowell.
Boyle, who went to Edinburgh Acting School and has performed on the Edinburgh Fringe, is expected to win recording contracts and work worth millions after gaining widespread recognition through her appearances on the show.
