The Edinburgh International Book Festival (EIBF) has won funding from the Scottish Government's Edinburgh Festivals Expo Fund to commission and publish a compilation of Scottish authors' work. Lights Off The Quay will feature work by Scottish authors Don Paterson, Janice Galloway, AL Kennedy, and John Burnside.
"This is an incredibly exciting project, a whole new development for the
festival," said Catherine Lockerbie, Director of the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
A sum of £32,568 will go towards funding the work and its publication, as well as allowing the authors to make a promotional tour with the work. An event is already confirmed in 2008 European Capital of Culture, Stavanger.
Announcing the award on Friday at Charlotte Square Gardens, Culture Minister Linda Fabiani said: "Lights Off The Quay is a fantastic publication and a fine example of how Scotland's tradition of literary talent continues with these fine contemporary authors. Such talent is what our Expo Fund is all about - showcasing great Scottish-based work at the Festivals and supporting touring opportunities to reach new audiences."
The announcement marks the ninth project funded by the Scottish Government's Edinburgh Festival Expo Fund.
The Fund, launched on March 27, supports new productions, events or exhibitions involving Scottish-based participants that premiere at any of the Edinburgh Festivals.
