The Edinburgh International Children’s Festival opens today with 9 days of live music and dance shows on stage for the first time since Covid-19 struck.
Festival director Noel Jordan describes the 12 theatre productions for kids as “surprising and eclectic” with many of the shows being non-verbal and having a broad appeal.
Shows at the festival are aimed at kids ranging in age from babies to early teens.
Five productions and a video installation are from Scotland.
Opening day of the Festival includes free pop-up performances, “artist interventions” and hands-on arts activities at the National Museum of Scotland (10am-4.30pm).
“What a joy to be able to gather again and communally share stories and inspiring experiences - something that has been absent from our lives for too long,” said Jordan.
