On 11-13 May, FestivALE returns to Summerhall, with street food, music and DJs taking over the space along with some excellent beers.
Brauhaus Edinburgh and Cork & Cask will be knocking up their “You Brexit, You Bought It” bar - rather than being a monument to broken promises and rapidly inflating prices, you can expect a selection of renowned beers, lagers, trappist ales, wild fermented lambics, and other things that just taste great, from across Europe.
If you’re after something stronger, Cocktail Kitchen will be brewing home- made ginger beer and serving up a raft of rum, whisky, and gin cocktails. St Andrews Brewing Company will also be rolling down some barrels of limited edition, exclusive ales.
Barney's will be brewing Marshmallow Stout on special and Red Rye Sour makes a welcome return.
Pitt are bringing the best of their Street Food festival running at the other end of town all weekend, so expect some pretty perfect steak frites served to go.
New for 2017 is ExperimentALE - a series of live science experiments playing with the senses, using beer, and science! Lead by the research of Prof Charles Spence (as seen on Food Unwrapped) and Pete Brown the three rooms of experimentALE are Beer & Gin in process, Taste Test Lab and Sonic Seasoning that will give punters the chance to lend their taste buds to a blind tasting and listening trial which will be logged in the Dissection Room for all revellers in real time.
All this plus music from Jim Harbourne, his loop pedals and guitar. https://soundcloud.com/jimharbourne
