Underbelly's new 750-seater circus tent venue will not be ready in time for the opening of the Fringe. Underbelly said that due to strong wind gusts yesterday and with further winds forecast over the next couple of days, they have been prevented from putting the cover on Lafayette, the larger tent structure, on schedule.
Shows will now open in Lafayette on Monday next week (10 August).
The smaller tent, Beauty, will open as planned on Friday.
The two tents, situated on The Meadows, are named after The Great Lafayette and his dog Beauty, who famously both died in Edinburgh in 1911. Dubbed the Circus Hub they will be hosting an international circus programme of 12 shows.
Anyone with tickets for shows in the Lafayette before the new Monday opening can arrange alternative dates or a refund.
