Since its establishment in Edinburgh’s Nicolson Street 36 years ago, the Italian Cultural Institute has played an important part in the rich cultural life of the city of Edinburgh.
As well as promoting the Italian language and culture in Scotland and Northern Ireland, it enthusiastically supports Italian artists taking part in the annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
This year it is again proud to present the many Italian companies from the worlds of theatre, dance, music, comedy, physical theatre and circus are bringing shows to The Capital.
2015 will see 24 new and returning companies and artists perform their work at 19 venues across The Capital throughout August (see programme).
Director of The Italian Cultural Institute Stefania Del Bravo says, “The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is a fantastic and unique opportunity… for many Italian artists; … I’m happy to say that the path has been traced and every year our support becomes stronger and more targeted….Summerhall is a perfect venue to host the showcase and the selection we have made intends to give the public an overview of the excellent Italian offer.”
