The Festival and King’s Theatre had their best ever year at the Box Office in 2013-14 with ticket income rising by 65% on the previous year, and the number of tickets and the number of performances staged both up by 25%.
As well as playing host to some amazing companies from around the world, after 20 successful years, the Festival Theatre has opened the custom built new Studio Theatre at the FT and a major new artwork by iconic Scottish artist John Byrne at the King’s was revealed to public delight.
Duncan Hendry, Chief Executive of Festival City Theatres Trust said ‘The year was exceptional both in terms of the breadth and quality of the programme and the attendant financial outcome. This outstanding result was undoubtedly due to a remarkable team effort from everyone involved with the Trust.’
The Festival & King’s Theatres are two of Scotland’s leading performing arts venues and are operated by the Festival City Theatres Trust, Scotland’s largest independent theatre organisation with an ethos of being artistically led but commercially focused.
All good news for Scottish theatre!
