Massaoke returns to the Fringe with a night of unadulterated, unison audience-belting! The band plays the tunes, but the audience sings the lyrics with this gig, karaoke style with lyrics posted up on the big screen above the stage.
This year in George Square Spiegeltent, Massaoke brings the crowds to the dance floor to sing and dance to pop, rock, and indie crowd pleasers such as “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” “Summer Lovin’,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
During the middle of the gig, two comedians plugging their own shows at the Fringe get up and perform a lip-sync battle. This sounds entertaining, and it mildly was, but the energy lagged a bit with this break in set. The show could do without extra schtick and with more songs.
This show is for you if you love or do any of the following:
Love to dance
Love to sing
Love karaoke
Sing out loud in the car
Sing out loud in the shower
Sing out loud in the club/bar/cafe/Tesco
With your drink in hand and a tune in your heart, this night is unforgettable. At one point, I looked around and each and every single person looked like they were the life of the party.
Come alone, come with friends, come ready to sing!
