I love a good scare. Horror is always the movie of choice down at my local multiplex, even though I spend most of my time peeping through my fingers. Yes, I jump, scream and spill my super sized bucket of coke over the bald, seven foot beast of a man in front of me...oh, the gore!

It was Saturday night and I was hitting the Surgeon's Hall for a theatrical spook fest by the name of Hayton On Homicide.

Science and belief clash after a mysterious death. Professor Hayton thinks it's homicide, whilst his wife believes that supernatural forces are at work. Something strange is going on...spooky!

This was going to require an extra pair of underwear.

Or would it?

It was not, sadly, as scary as I hoped it would be. Though there was a grown man at the front row who would disagree mightily with that statement. Much to the amusement of everybody else, he let out a scream that hit a note I didn't think possible without a violent blow to the crown jewels. I don't think the friends he was with will let him forget this incident in a hurry.

The performances are all fine, but the story is a little silly and everything seemed a little rushed towards the end. Lose focus for a moment and you'll miss it.

It is still good fun though and it does have its creepy moments. A fun way to end a day at the fringe. Just don't walk home alone.
