Time & place

A new addition to Edinburgh's Christmas festival in 2018, Silent Light is a silent dance party under the temporary electric light installation on George Street (near Castle Street). The flashing faerie lights on the archways are synchronised to the music playing through the headphones of Silent Light participants.

Silent Light takes place up to 5 times a day between 4.45pm and 10pm, with each slot 20 minutes long.

The three different Christmas programmes to choose from are:

  • Santa’s Sparkles - especially suitable for families
  • Christmas Crackers - favourite festive tunes
  • Disco Delights - for the party crowd

The event is put together by the team behind Fringe show "Silent Adventures", with the Street of Light installation which appeared first at the Edinburgh’s Christmas 2016 providing the venue.
