Alan Greig's X Factor Dance Company have teamed up with New York choreographer Gerald Casel and dance company, for their 2009 spring touring production, Query.
X Factor have been touring this hybrid, full-length collaborative work throughout Scotland in January and February. They will then travel across the pond and head for New York City for three performances at the Merce Cunningham Studio.
The new production is loosely based on Gore Vidal's novel 'Myra Breckinridge'. Greig's theatricalstyle merges with Casel's precise and sensual qualities to explore gender, sexuality and identity. The result is a battle of the sexes with a difference - a man becomes a woman and the two personalities fight for hormonal control of the body with unpredictable results!
Featuring specially commissioned ambient and electric music from composer Tom Murray, Query will fuse Greig's theatrical choreography with Casel's stimulating direction to create a performance that is dynamic and rich in texture with strong performances from the talented dancers fused from both companies.
