The annual Art Exhibition of paintings, jewellery & craftwork in aid of Cancer Research UK, will take place again in November at Adam House, Chambers Street, Edinburgh.
Whether you are an art lover who might be tempted to buy a lovely new watercolour or enjoy browsing for original, handcrafted Christmas presents, it’s the perfect opportunity to support this most important charity.
Now in its 46th year, the organisers aim to increase the income from the total sum of £20,000 raised in 2012.
Sadly, most of us know a friend or family member who has been diagnosed with some form of Cancer. Therefore it is so rewarding to know that all profits from this Art show go to the Edinburgh Cancer Research UK Centre at the Western General Hospital.
The exhibition will be an eclectic, inspiring display of 1,000 paintings by artists from Edinburgh, Lothians, the Borders, Yorkshire and the West of Scotland – with some even from Spain and Australia.
The temporary gallery takes over three floors with stalls also selling hand-made jewellery, glass, pottery, craftwork, scarves and accessories with affordable prices for all budgets.
The event offers gift wrap, CRUK Christmas cards, Prize Raffle and - after all your shopping - relax over a cup of coffee or lunch in the Café.
Since the inaugural sale in 1968, more than 75,000 paintings have been sold which has raised £500,000 for Cancer Research UK to spend on scientific and clinical research.
For this extraordinary achievement, the fundraising Committee for Cancer Research UK was recently presented with the Inspiring Volunteering Achievement Award.
Jane Brunton, chairwoman of the committee said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to receive this Award in recognition of the hard work that goes into organising this popular art show. We are really looking forward to this year’s event which we intend to be better than ever”.
