Edinburgh residents woke up this morning to find the city had reverted to winter snow conditions again. Initially a light covering at 8am became a substantial fall of almost three centimetres by midday and as I write the snow is falling steadily.
The Council has reacted well, however, and the snow ploughs have been out and are continuing to work throughout the day with, in addition, snow clearances on many of the main footpaths in the centre of the city. Obviously the Council are aware that today is one of the important shopping days for city traders and they are clearly doing their best to keep the city moving for vehicles and pedestrians.
People are moving about, although there will be some who are deterred by the constant heavy snow. It does give city the magical "Christmas Card" effect and it all looks beautiful, but for the elderly, they may have had enough of the white stuff this winter - particularly when it means huge heating bills for everyone.

Coping better this time round

It looks like after all the "talk about lessons being learned" we are coping better now - although still many disruptions.
