Crowds in the Grand Gallery at the National Museum of Scotland. The lighter, airy renovation was well received, when it re-opened after a three closure for renovations, although many were sad to see the loss of the fish ponds.

The NMS smashed its earlier attendance records with 4-5,000 on the street for the opening ceremony, 5,905 visitors in the first hour, and 10,000 people before midday (the NMS target for the whole day).

In total, there were 22,071 visitors on the first day of the re-opening
