The Electric Circus is a Pandora’s box situated in the heart of the capital, a new and unique venue where a honeycomb of hidden and exciting musical luxuries awaits.  Distinctly in tuned with Scotland’s music fans, Electric Circus offers a musical sensory feast operating as a bar, live music venue and nightclub with 7 private state of the art karaoke rooms.  Musically driven, Electric Circus offers a new ideal for patrons’ experiences and relationships with music.

Since it’s doors opened a year ago the Electric Circus has strived to provide an eclectic and fresh mix of live music to its audiences. From touring acts like Alphabeat, David Gray, Mystery Jets, The Phantom Band & Frightened Rabbit to the best up and coming Scottish acts the venue has hosted a constantly increasing number of quality live shows.

Crossing all genres from jazz acts (The Portico Quartet, Niki King, Acoustic Ladyland) to folk (Cave Singers, Espers), pop (Frankmusik, Example), hip hop (Killa Kela, Chiddy Bang), electro/avant garde (Xiu Xiu, Found) to guitar music (Rod Jones – Idlewild, Good Shoes, Twisted Wheel, Blood Red Shoes), rockabilly (Buick 55) and beyond, the programme is diverse and entertaining, aimed at a broad range of music lovers.

In the last year Electric Circus has also developed regular monthly club nights, both in-house and with local promoters, offering a diverse rolling calendar from the performance art extravaganza of Va Va Voom, to the underground hangout - The Bang Bang Club and the art punk, electronic and cult-independia of Wire who strive for something braver, showcasing the best cutting edge new Scottish Music - their M.o. eclectic not generic.

“With the Edinburgh music scene enjoying a particularly purple patch of late, things are about to get a whole lot better for the Capital's music fans. Electric Circus – a new, live music premise perched slap bang in the heart of the city – is open for business.” – Scotsman

“We did a joint tour with Frightened Rabbit and the Twilight Sad – it was only opening for them, but we were playing to about 700 people a night in places like Seattle.”  Edinburgh mustn’t seem very exciting after that.  “No, we’re all really glad to be back, actually,” says Thompson.  “All our friends are here, we get on better with our parents now, there are great new venues like Electric Circus, and lots of bands play here now.  It’s an exciting time for music in Edinburgh.”  And presumably, to be Edinburgh’s most exciting new band. – Scotsman (We Were Promised Jetpacks Interview)

Well deserving of its reputation – the best music of the last 50 years – The Guardian (The Bang Bang Club)

Witty punk edged and with a distinctive counter-culture edge – The Skinny (Va Va Voom)

“Since its 2009 launch The Electric Circus has proven its mettle as a forward-thinking venue which is truly supportive of Scotland's rich music, club and performance traditions. It is an exciting space and a venue concept never before seen in Edinburgh, run by a management team with its finger right on the pulse of all that's hot." – Itsy’s Collective

As a promoter of the club night Wire which began when The Electric Circus opened its doors a year ago, its success depended on finding a venue that was forward thinking, eclectic and open minded about its music programming. Generic formula or clubs by numbers was not what the venue was interested in doing. Over the course of the year Wire and The Electric circus have striven to make the Electric Circus a forum for the most innovative in all areas of Scottish musical talent.” – Craig Jamieson, Promoter / DJ

"I likes me a nice indie rock concert but I also likes me some karaoke and a bit of a dance. Thank The Good Lord then for Electric Circus, where I can feasibly watch The Phantom Band and then sing ‘All Night Long’ by Lionel Ritchie immediately after. A splendid and diverse wee club in the heart of the city.” Scott, Frightened Rabbit

"Electric Circus is a state-of-the-art, new music venue in my hometown city of Edinburgh, catering for everything from bangin' club culture to sweaty rock'n'roll. It's another great addition to the Capital's growing live scene with touring bands and local acts rolling up on a nightly basis. The interior decor is a wild, technicoloured clash of tattoo-style murals, new-wave neon and classy monochrome all fighting for your attention with the wall of TV screens and personal karaoke booths. I've seen many bands, DJ-ed loads and had the occasional beverage or 2 in Electric Circus, and always have a great time. The staff are friendly and the doormen polite - what more could you want?" Vic Galloway, BBC Radio 1 & BBC Radio Scotland.
