The play centres on the trials and tribulations of the three Magrath sisters who reunite at the family home in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. Meg is dealing with a failing singing career, Lenny faces the prospect of a life alone and Babe is on the verge of going to jail for shooting her husband. In the end the play is the story of how its young characters escape the past to seize the future - but the
telling is so true and touching and consistently hilarious that it will linger in the mind long after the curtain has descended.

The themes of broken dreams, destructive relationships and Southern stoicism through it all are handled intimately, poignantly but ultimately with underlying humour and vivacity.
 
A Shot in the Dark Productions are a small Edinburgh based theatre company, who aim to champion new talent. Previous productions include Office Song, Etcetera Theatre London “Overall this is a wonderful theatre production, it's funny without being ridiculous and smart without being intense.
