CHILDREN’S CHARITY SEEK VOLUNTEERS FOR CHRISTMAS SINGING AND WRAPPING
A leading children’s charity is appealing for Edinburgh volunteers to raise some Christmas cheer, as well as some cash - by wrapping Christmas presents and singing carols.
Save the Children is hosting the wrapping service on the 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th December in the St James Centre to help them raise vital funds for their lifesaving work. The charity are also looking for budding carol singers and are holding informal carol singing events in St James on the 5th, 6th and 20th December – both individuals and choir groups are welcome.
Victoria Lyon Dean from Save the Children’s Scottish Fundraising team said:
“Christmas is the perfect time to give back and we would welcome any would-be singers or wrappers. The wrapping service is a great opportunity for people to bring their presents to be gift wrapped and it takes a bit of hassle out of Christmas. The singing events should be great fun – volunteers will entertain shoppers with some Christmas classics, as well as raising some cash for us. All proceeds will go directly towards our lifesaving work around the world.”
All the paper and ribbons will be provided, and shoppers will pay a donation to the charity to have their gifts wrapped. Volunteers are required to sign up for a minimum of a 2 hour slot, between 12pm and 8pm, and are welcome to do more than that if they so wish.
For more information or to sign up for either wrapping or carol singing, please call Victoria Lyon Dean on 0131 527 8226 or email [email protected]
