The Council announced the deadline of October 12 to apply for the most recent round of Waste Action grants.
Here's the relevant information:
The Waste Action Grant Programme is a fund that can provide grant funding of up to £2,500 for local projects that seek to reduce, reuse and recycle waste in the city.
The Waste Action Grant Programme aims to encourage local householders, community groups, youth groups and schools to join in by using the Council's recycling services and participating in new initiatives and projects that are already being run across the city...
A group of students from Edinburgh University recently received a grant to help them in their project to recycle clothes and other items. Volunteers collected almost three tonnes of clothes, bedding, kitchen equipment and electronics from Pollock Halls and other student halls. Most of these items will be offered to new students at a ‘freeshop' during freshers week for a small donation. The remaining items will be distributed to charity.
Cllr Robert Aldridge, Environment Leader said: "This scheme which is funded through the Scottish Executive's Strategic Waste Fund will help the City to reach and hopefully exceed the 42% recycling target set for 2012."
For more information or to register your interest in the grant programme please contact the waste education officer on 0131 469 5070 or email [email protected] or download the application form at www.edinburgh.gov.uk/internet/Environment.
