The statue of the Duke of Wellington on Princes Street is frequently seen sporting a traffic bollard on his head.

Ironically, the "the iron duke", famous for defeating Napoleon at Waterloo in 1805, is also remembered as the man who was taken aback by the "many shocking bad hats" on his return to the British parliament in 1832.
