Edinburgh prepares for RHS judges
Edinburgh residents are putting the final touches to parks, public
spaces, gardens and community projects for the Royal Horticultural
Society's Britain in Bloom UK Finals.
Day: Monday 3 August 2009
Start time: 9.00am.
RHS Judges: Rae Beckwith and Jim Goodwin
The community of Edinburgh is representing the Scotland region* in the Large City category.
Also participating in the large city category is London Borough of
Croydon. Community, environmental and horticultural achievements will
be recognised with awards of either gold, silver gilt, silver or
bronze. Also one participant will be recognised as the category's top
achiever.
All the results will be revealed at the RHS Britain in Bloom
Awards Presentation, hosted by BBC Gardeners' World presenter, Toby
Buckland, at the Riviera International Centre in Torbay on 23rd
September 2009.
Britain in Bloom is the UK's largest horticultural campaign. It
encourages people to join together to improve their local environments,
through gardening sustainably and caring for their green spaces.
Entries are judged on their horticultural achievement, environmental
responsibility and community participation.

*There are 18 regions
and nations affiliated with RHS Britain in Bloom. In the first year of
the competition communities compete at a regional/national level before
being put forward to the UK finals - (Nations) Scotland, Ulster, Wales;
