Here's the listings for March for the Leith Folk Club. All welcome.
Marc Atkinson Trio (£8) -Tuesday 3 March - Marc Atkinson, a multi-instrumentalist/composer/arranger/producer, is one of Canada's most talented musicians. His catchy compositions and flawless sizzling picking take guitar beyond the usual repertoire and sound, while maintaining the laidback humour and casual 'good time feel' of Canada's West Coast. The music of the Marc Atkinson Trio good-naturedly welcomes all listeners aboard for an intriguing, exhilarating and unforgettable ride.
Sandy Brechin and Ewan Wilkinson (£6) -Tuesday 10 March - Sandy, one of the greatest exponents of the Scottish accordion teams up with Ewan, an emotive singer and an articulate guitarist who has been hailed as an important new young talent of the folk scene.
North Sea Gas (£6) -Tuesday 17 March - a welcome return visit from the band that opened our very first night at LFC. If you like entertaining folk music; if you like to sing along, if you like to laugh, and to hear superb musicians, this is the gig for you.
Emily Barker and the Red Clay Halo (£6) -Tuesday 24 March - A very welcome return to Leith from Emily and her band. Their unusual line up of vox, guitar, fiddle, cello and accordion gives a unique texture and colour to their folky country songs, all with a distinctly Aussie twang. The band's stature is growing on the back of a series of successful festival appearances and major supporting tours, and their first album, Photos, Fires, Fables sold out at gigs alone. Their newly released second album Despite the Snow has received a string of excellent reviews.
The Groanbox Boys (£8) -Tuesday 31 March - The Groanbox Boys are back with their blistering crazy mix of blues, jazz and folk, whipped to a frenzy with guitar banjo and box, then beaten to a pulp by a yew log.....
