Bulleit Originals return to Scotland following November's date at
The Arches with Soul II Soul, Martha High and Ben Westbeech,
championing more LEGENDARY names - pioneers from the history of soul
music from way back when to right here, right now.
MARLENA SHAW
will be recognised by anyone who caught her awesome Triptych
performance back in 03, fans of US hip hop supremo Mos Def, whose Miss
Fat Booty 1999 HIT sampled the fine lady, fans of St Germain whose epic
Rose Rouge HIT sampled Shaw's Woman Of The Ghetto, fans of Nineties
one-hit-wonder from Glasgow, Blueboy, whose Remember Me chart SMASH
sampled the same original song by Marlena, or fans of David Holmes who
(perhaps most famously) effectively kick-started Shaw's career when he
included her evergreen California Soul HIT on his Essential Mix in
1998. Did i mention that she's been responsible for a number of
HITS...? In short, Marlena Shaw is a LEGEND.

JAZZANOVA
need no intro to Trouble regulars, all three DJs from the Berlin
production crew (Alex, Claas and Juergen) have played at or with
Trouble in Edinburgh over the last five years and they run one of the
best record labels in Europe, Sonar Kollektiv (recently responsible for
championing Kiwi soul/reggae stars Fat Freddys Drop and The Black
Seeds).
GREG WILSON will already be well known to any regulars of Edinburgh's
Solescience (RIP) or Glasgow's Melting Pot nights, both of which have
hosted sets from the Mancunian electro-funk pioneer and soul-dance
legend countless times. He's the don, he is. Find out why here:
As for DIGITAL JONES, well you should know all about these
future-retro, electro-soul championing freestylers, fronted by the
inimitable Nikki Kent, already, so busily and regularly do they pop up
on the Edinburgh club circuit. Just back from a vibrant live show in
LDN after releasing their debut single on Edinburgh's brand new Fat
Bird label, Digital Jones make this date their first in what's sure to
be a VERY eventful year for them!
Last, but by no means least, HOBBBES & ERIK D'VIKING, alias TROUBLE
DJs, will be kicking off the night as well as the year with a colourful
set of soul-saoked goodness, guaranteed to chase the mid-winter blues
away. Old school, nu skool, ain't-never-been-to-school, expect the
unexpected and come prepared to PARTY, they don't do it any other way
and that way you can be sure you'll getintoTrouble!

Hi folks,
There are a handful of tickets to sell on the door on Friday, but try to get down before 8pm as we expect a queue. Demand for this gig has been higher than anything we've ever been involved with before.
We anticipate that when Marlena comes off-stage, the crowd who are just there to see the live music will go home. There will be room to get extra bodies in. So if you don't get in at the beginning of the night, but still fancy checking out Greg Wilson and Jazzanova's DJ sets then please come back around 11:15pm and we'll have a one-out, one-in policy.
Set Times for Friday
8:00pm Doors
8:00pm - 9:00pm Trouble DJs
9:00pm - 9:30pm Digital Jones (Live)
9:30pm - 9:45pm Trouble DJs
