The Bard at the Writers' Museum, Edinburgh: I am ever yours, Robert Burns: 10 January - 18 April 2009

The Bard at the Writers' Museum, Edinburgh

I am ever yours,
Robert Burn
s: 10 January - 18 April 2009

Take the chance to
get up close and personal with Rabbie Burns when an exhibition opens at the
Writers' Museum on 10 January as part of the events programme for Homecoming
2009.

Featuring a
collection of intimate correspondence that will give fresh insight into this
multi-faceted and much loved poet, there will be something of interest for all
in this exhibition.

Robert Burns (1759-1796) is best remembered for his timeless
songs and poems, but he was also a prolific letter-writer, corresponding
with over 200 people during his short life.

We gain a different perspective on the man via his
correspondence that reveals his strengths and weaknesses, humour and
sensitivity.  Letters on display to his friends and acquaintances
illustrate the strength of his family ties and his love of his country
and its
history.

City Culture Leader, Deidre Brock said:  "This selection of significant manuscripts on
display at the Writers' Museum focuses on eight recipients of letters from
Burns between 1783 and 1796.  I'm certain
this event will be of enormous interest to all those who love our national
Bard".
