ROB DA BANK (RADIO 1, BESTIVAL, SUNDAY BEST, LONDON)

It’s been three years since Trouble first hooked up with Da Bank through Fresh Air FM’s event at the Venue and what a colourful three years, with Trouble DJs now a regular feature at Bestival on the Isle Of Wight, Da Bank now an annual feature at Trouble, his pioneering festival dubbed Best Small To Medium Sized Festival at the UK Festival Awards 06 and 07, and his excellent broadcasts late Sunday nights on Radio 1 continuing to champion brilliant new music, whatever the style, with an alternative edge and a serious pop ear.

Da Bank started out as a tea boy at former dance music bible Muzik magazine in the heady mid Nineties (eventually becoming Assistant Editor) and simultaneously launched the original Sunday Best club at London’s Tea Room des Artistes in 1996.  Playing host to everyone from Basement Jaxx to Fatboy Slim back in the day, no wonder the club spawned a record label as well as an award-winning festival. Expect a proper, party-style dance mash-up from him.

YOUNG FATHERS (BLACK SUGAR, EDINBURGH)

Brand new rap trio from Edinburgh, embracing old school hip hop and electro styles with nu skool production techniques and a contemporary lyrical style. Their energetic live show, compete with funky dance moves like a modern day Jackson 5,  and debut single Straight Back On It has been creating a small stir on Edinburgh's circuit for the last year or so, been championed by Vic Galloway on Radio 1 and they’re also performing on the Club NME tour.  Check the myspace for fresh beats and hot pics!  Young Fathers have got JUICE and are most definitely going places.

FUNKY TRANSPORT AKA DEEP IAIN (SNAFU, ABERDEEN)

One of the best DJs in Scotland, Deep Iain has released records on Ralph Lawson's 2020 Vision, Brique Rouge, Classic, Farris Wheel and Chez amongst many more.  He currently holds down a residency at one of Aberdeen's best clubs, Snafu, when he's not spinning his deep house sounds internationally.  Iain will be providing support in the Cab's back room.  Something for the serious house heads then.

ERIK D’VIKING & HOBBES (TROUBLE DJs, EDINBURGH)

And then there were two...  The Trouble DJs started out as a duo at their original residency ‘at the bluenote’ and, following the departure of the rest of the crew for the 9-5 grind or the Big Smoke, now they’re a duo again.  And, having grown up experiencing the same morphing of UK dance/club and pop culture, albeit from the opposite end of the country, it’s hardly surprising that the Trouble DJs should consume and champion music in such a similar way to Da Bank.

With the advent of the ipod and the accompanying diversification that brings, the more catholic tastes etc, RDB and Trouble DJs’ ‘freestyle’ approach to music is now more current than ever before.  The club nights that embrace just one style of music can now be counted on one hand, if at all, while the Trouble DJs freestyle mentality is now being preached further and wider than ever before.   Party-style mash-ups, hip hop/electro and deep house all under one roof?  Well, that’s Trouble, eh?  We’re future-retro.  Are you?
