MAKING IT MEDIEVAL-STYLE AT CAERLAVEROCK

Historic Scotland
announce details of a special event taking place at Caerlaverock
Castle. On Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 August visitors will be transported
back to medieval times and the atmosphere of a genuine castle at Make it Medieval.
The merchants' medieval camp will bring the castle and grounds to life,
with a series of authentic activities and dramatic demonstrations to
keep the whole family entertained.

Young visitors will be put to the test with a series of challenges that will see them emerge as a noble knight, royal
princess or esteemed merchant. In a range of interactive opportunities,
prospective knights will be able to learn pike drill and preparing for
battle, princesses will be shown etiquette and dance and merchants will
be instructed in crafts such as calligraphy.

The real knights
will clash in a thrilling finale.  The closing dramatic combat
tournament will include of swordsmanship and daring as they fight for
land, money, honour and power.

this exciting re-enactment weekend, which gives visitors a real insight
into the drama of medieval life."

Make it Medieval is on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 August from 12 noon to 16.00 each day. Tickets are adults £7, children £5 and concessions £6. Advance tickets can be bought online, saving 10% and helping beat the queues.

    Castle is open all year 21 March to 30 September from 09.30 to 17.30
    and 1 October to 31 March from 09.30 to 16.30. The admissions is adult
    £5.20, child £2.60 and concession £4.20.
