GAIL PORTER TO GET ON BIKE FOR CHILDLINE CYCLE
Edinburgh celebrity Gail Porter will be taking part in a sponsored bike ride
in aid of ChildLine in Scotland in the city's Holyrood Park this Sunday (29th June).
Gail, who regularly cycles her daughter
Honey to school on their tandem bike, is looking for people to join her at the
NSPCC's Edinburgh Big Bike Ride, which will take place at the park between 10am
and 1pm.
Gail Porter said: "It'll be great to be
back in Holyrood Park. It's a fabulous place for keeping fit or a family day out and this
weekend's Edinburgh Big Bike Ride is a chance for families to do both, while
also supporting an important cause. We all know it can be hard to talk about
your worries, especially when you are growing up. That's why it's so important
to support the work that ChildLine's trained volunteer counsellors do."
The family event is a 5km circuit around
the park which people of all ages and abilities can join. More serious cyclists
can clock up sponsorship by repeating the route as often as they want.
Local NSPCC fundraising manager, Elaine
Bailey added: "Later this year we will be opening a new ChildLine base in Edinburgh so we can
answer even more calls from vulnerable children and young people who turn to us
for support, protection and help. Our volunteer counsellors can only provide
that support, if you support them. If
you've got a bike, then get it out, gather up your family and friends and come
down and join us on Sunday in Holyrood Park."
