I'm passing this release on from the City Centre, received yesterday...
"Your City Centre, Your Views" is an event happening tomorrow, open to everyone who lives, works, studies or visits Edinburgh's City Centre.
This Community event will be an opportunity for the public to tell us what they think the issues are and what they would like to see happen to the City Centre in the future. All the information gathered at the event will be fed into an action plan for the City Centre Neighbourhood Partnership to deliver.
The purpose of the event will be to:
- Identify and prioritise issues facing the City Centre
- Identifywhat needs to change in Edinburgh's City Centre
- Raise awareness about the City Centre Neighbourhood Partnership (and partners) and the City Centre Neighbourhood Team.
- Showcase future large developments within the City Centre i.e. the Princes Street Development Framework
- Throughpartnership working, make a difference to the City Centre
The City Centre Neighbourhood Plan will not only identify issues but will clearly set out how the local problems will be solved through working collaboratively with partners and ultimately will improve the quality of life for everyone in Edinburgh's City Centre. The target completion for the Community Plan is Summer 2008 with an estimated launch date of Sept 08.
City Centre Councillor David Beckett, said "Events like this are the best way of finding out what the public's priorities are. Only through community engagement will we be able to test, agree or change the planned actions for the Neighbourhood Partnership. The information we gather will help inform and shape the Neighbourhood Community Plan for the City Centre, which will be of benefit to businesses, visitors and residents alike.
"I would encourage everyone to come along and make their views known so they too can help shape the future of this Community. However, if for some reason you can't make it on the day, please feel free to contact the City Centre Neighbourhood Partnership with your views."
The free event will be held in the Assembly Rooms, George Street, tomorrow, Thursday 8th May '08 between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
There will be over 20 stalls available to give advice and practical help on a wide range of topics ranging from how to deal with anti-social behaviour to the future for Princes Street, competitions, activities for children and much, much more.
