Jazzanova (Sonar Kollektiv) + Hobbes (Trouble DJs)
In 1995 Alexander Barck, Claas Brieler & Juergen
von Knoblauch formed the DJ-crew which became known as Jazzanova. On their
weekly night at the legendary Delicious Doughnuts Club in Berlin-Mitte they
developed their distinctive eclectic DJ-style: a special blend of old
Soul-Jazz, Brazil & Hip-Hop linked to the contemporary wave of mid 90ies
Club-Jazz. This passion was later
transformed into a creativity aiming to develop a new electronic jazz sound
using the knowledge of "old"-music.
With the help of Roskow Kretschmann & Extended
Spirit (Axel Reinemer & Stefan Leisering) the Jazzanova sound was created.
The first EP "Fedime's Flight" created a buzz: over night Jazzanova
became renowned for their dj-ing and production-skills. Opinion-leaders such as
Gilles Peterson, Patrick Forge and Rainer Trüby helped Jazzanova to become
sought after remixers.
Constant travelling and worldwide musical exchange
with artists, producers and promoters built the foundation for all future
Jazzanova work both in the studio and behind the decks. Expect them to bring their trademark club
sound to The Voodoo Rooms for this DJ Set.
Doors 9pm (3am licence applied for). Tickets priced £12 (stbf). At The Voodoo Rooms, 19a West Register Street, Edinburgh. Tickets from Tickets scotland, Ripping, The Voodoo Rooms or www.ticketweb.co.uk.
