Scotland’s Community Radio Stations Interview The Leaders

Scotland’s community stations interview The Leaders

COMMUNITY radio stations across Scotland are linking together as a network with an exclusive interview programme featuring the leaders of the four main parties standing in the Holyrood Election.

It’s the first time the stations from the Northern Isles to the Borders and across East-West coasts have linked up to cover a national Scottish Election.

“The Leaders” is presented by broadcaster and journalist Charles Fletcher and is produced for the Scottish Community Broadcasting Network (SCBN) by the Edinburgh-based international media development company Caledonia Media.

Each station is carrying its own local coverage of the election throughout the campaign. This programme features questions from listeners across Scotland.

John Ritchie, chairman of Black Diamond Radio in Midlothian and editor of the Edinburgh Guide said: “This is a milestone for community radio. The fact the leaders have agreed to recognise the sector in such an engaging way is good news for all the volunteers across the country that make local radio work.

“It is a key turning point for the Scottish Community Broadcasting Network and something we can  build on from hereon in.”

Charles Fletcher, presenter and producer of The Leaders said: “Each of the leaders gave their time to focus on local issues and local questions. It’s a big moment for every station across the sector.”

The Leaders will be broadcast on SCBN member stations across Scotland during the week beginning Monday, April 18. Local listings have details.
