Tickets for two of the main events at Edinburgh's Hogmanay are now sold out: Concert in the Gardens on 31 December, headlined by Biffy Clyro with special guests The Charlatans and Billy Bragg, and tickets for the Keilidh, also on 31 December.
Tickets are still available for the Hogmanay Street Party, which this year features live music from The Coral, Newton Faulkner, Treacherous Orchestra and Hog The Stage Winners Kitty The Lion, and DJ Sets from the Kaiser Chiefs, Booka Shade, Goldie Lookin Chain and Grum.
With the unseasonably cold, snowy weather in recent weeks, and unprecedented traffic disruption, many would-be revellers will no doubt be waiting to nearer the end of the year before buying tickets for the street party.
Hogmanay Street Party tickets were raised this year to £15 from £10 last year and the festival, which normally starts on the 29th December, has been compressed into three days with a rugby match on the fourth day.
Pete Irvine, Organiser of Edinburgh's Hogmanay, was typically upbeat about the ticket sales so far.
“With Biffy Clyro as our headline act, we knew this event was going to be very popular, and are delighted that all the tickets have sold out so far ahead of the event. Demand for Street Party tickets is strong, and we expect this to continue right up to the event itself,” he said.
Dee Bahl, Manager of Biffy Clyro, who are currently on their way back from Singapore, said: “This is the icing (ha ha) on the cake for what has been a brilliant year for the band and their fans – it's a great way for all of us to bring in 2011!”
Edinburgh‟s Hogmanay launches a day later than in previous years on Thursday 30 December with the new Opening Event in "Resolution Square", the temporarily named event space for Edinburgh's Hogmanay on Mound Precinct.
The 30th December also sees the popular Torchlight Procession and Son et Lumière fireworks on Calton Hill.
On Friday 31 December, the Street Party, Keilidh and Concert in the Gardens lead to the Midnight Fireworks display from Edinburgh Castle.
This year's festival introduces a programme One Day to mark the singular date of 1.1.11.
One Day, supported by the Scottish Government‟s Edinburgh Festivals Expo Fund, kicks off with live performances by a selection of Scotland's top singers, songwriters, musicians and performers in a free and unticketed concert in Resolution Square.
This will be followed by a Resolution Concert featuring K T Tunstall together with King Creosote, Silver Columns and Kassidy.
