Edinburgh City Council schools are not expected to be completely back to normal this Monday as the city enters its second working week of snow and ice.
“We are trying our best to get schools and nurseries open again," said City Education Leader Cllr Marilyne MacLaren.
“We don’t expect schools to be full at this stage but we are confident, that as we move forward, more and more schools should open and more and more pupils will gradually make it along until eventually things get back to normal."
In an update on Sunday night, a Council spokesperson said: "We anticipate that all of our schools and establishments will be open on Tuesday 7 December."
All secondary schools are set to open, and the majority of primaries are set to open on Monday (6 December). Home to School contract bus companies will provide transport for registered students, weather permitting. Lunches will be provided.
The situation on Sunday 5 December is:
- Secondary Schools
- Primary Schools
- Special Schools
- Nurseries, Child and Family Centres
- Community Centres
- Community events and meetings
- Severe weather updates
All secondary schools will be open for S1-S6 apart from Liberton High School which is only open for S4-S6.
The following primary schools will be closed on Monday.
- Colinton
- Currie
- Dean Park
- Gilmerton
- Nether Currie
- Newcraighall
- Ratho
- St Cuthbert's RC
- St John Vianney Nursery
- Clovenstone Primary is closed but its nursery will open.
The following primary schools are open, with a limited service:
- Craigour Park - No Breakfast Club
- Cramond - No nursery classes
- Gracemount Primary - no Breakfast Club, no Active Schools Clubs
- Gylemuir Primary - No nursery classes
- South Morningside Primary - No nursery classes
- St Catherine's RC Primary - No nursery classes
The following Special Schools are closed on Monday:
- Prospect Bank
- Gorgie Mills
- Kaimes
- Oaklands
- Woodlands
For all other Special Schools, any parents concerned about transport should telephone their transport contractor or the Corporate Transport Unit on 0131 657 0000.
All Nursery Schools and Child & Family Centres are to open.
The following City of Edinburgh Council community centres will be closed:
- Ratho
- Roseberry Hall
- Inch
- Jack Kane
- Bingham
- Castleview
- Magdalene Rannoch
- Kirkliston
- Norwood Wing
- Craigmount Wing
- Juniper Green
All other Council community centres will be open. Day adult education classes will run next week but evening classes will not.
Anyone looking to attend external events normally hosted in schools, e.g. councillor surgeries or community groups, should check if they are going ahead.
