Friendly Fires have been announced as the third band to headline Edinburgh's Hogmanay Concert in the Gardens on 31 December, playing alongside previously announced Groove Armada and Paolo Nutini.
Edinburgh's Hogmanay organisers also announced that The Hoosiers’ Irwin Sparkes and Alphonso Sharland are also set to take to the decks on the new-for-‘08 West End DJ stage, alongside Hot Chip and B-Side and the Bandits.
Friendly Fires are currently hitting the airwaves with the indie-pop crossover hit Paris (see video above). The St Albans band have been announced as supporting Glasgvegas on the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour.
A spokesperson for the Friendly Fires said: “We are looking forward to saying cheerio to Auld Year's Night, and ringing in the Ne'erday with a host of fireworks, ringing bells and country dancing.”
The Hoosiers debut album The Trick To Life reached number one last October and included the hits Goodbye Mr A, Worried About Ray and Cops and Robbers.
A spokesperson for The Hoosiers said, “We’re over the moon to be playing Edinburgh’s Hogmanay this year. Scotland is one of our favourite places and to be part of the biggest celebrations in the capital is a real honour - we’re counting down the days!”
