The debacle continues. The Fringe has suspended telephone and counter sales for a second day to cope with the fallout from its box office technical problems.
A statement on the Fringe home page says:
"To allow work on our ticketing system the main Fringe Box Office will be closed for telephone, counter sales and collections on Monday 28 July, all website sales will continue as normal."
The Fringe already suspended ticket sales over the counter and telephone yesterday (see Fringe Shutting Shop), leaving its web site as the main point of call for ticket purchases. Compounding its problems the Fringe web site then went down for over 10 hours. Fortunately, it was back up and running after 10am.
Today's statement on the front page of the Fringe site offers reassurance that those people who ordered tickets should receive them in time:
"To date we have printed and mailed out tickets for the preview week, week one and week two. That's over 100,000 tickets. If you booked tickets in separate transactions they will come in separate postal batches.
Please be advised that ticket collections from the Box Office are not available as yet."
