The Retina International Photography Festival, which has been taking place annually in Edinburgh for three years, announces a one-off opportunity to buy work fresh from the gallery walls to be held at the Edinburgh’s Image Collective at Ocean’s Terminal.
The Retina International Photography Festival is led by a group of volunteers who just love Photography. It consists of professionals from diverse backgrounds including the creative industries, higher education, a business entrepreneur, practicing professional photographers and a producer and is heavily supported by students, interns, volunteers and is funded by sponsors and donations.
RETINA, which has curated exhibitions of work by photographers from around the world with works from, among others, New York based high-fashion photographer Kareem Black, celebrity portrait photographer Hamish Brown, Scottish landscape photographer David Wilson, environmental photographer Janeanne Gilchrist and documentary photographer Doug Courrance will all be on sale at the event on October 6th.
There is a full list of items available online but to tempt there are images that range from Hamish Brown’s celebs like Ed Sheeren, Mo Farah and Gary Oldman; landscape photography featuring images of Rannoch, Stornoway and Luskentyre from David Wilson; Janeanne Gilchrist’s underwater photography that was shown at Customs House this summer and up-and-coming fashion photographers Oliver Henderson, Anneleen Lindsay and Jodie Mann for style-loving photography fans.
The works, all exhibited as part of Retina International Photography Festival over the last two years, have been shown across the city from Gayfield Creative Spaces, Custom House, Summerhall and the first RETINA exhibition outwith Edinburgh in Braemar.
The Auction event will help secure funds for the July 2017 events, which displays work across the city in a series of free exhibitions. The works are on display from now until the action if buyers want to go and have a look in advance of the auction that will be led by volunteer guest auctioneer Mark Gorman who is chair of Creative Edinburgh and Forth Children’s Theatre.
