Science on a SummerEvening

Members of the public are invited to enjoy a free summer's evening of science with expert talks, displays, and live music at the University of Edinburgh.

Participants will hear from Dr Olof Johansson, from the University's School of Chemistry, on how society could be influenced by novel smart materials, as well as new information-storage devices based on laser technology. The audience will also find out from Professor David Robertson, of the University's School of Informatics, how large-scale research initiatives - such as the Large Hadron Collider and the UK Biobank - take place alongside data-gathering projects involving millions of people in areas from galaxy mapping to natural disaster response. Interactive science activities and refreshments will be available, accompanied by music from the Science Ceilidh Band.

Science on a Summer's Evening takes place at the University of Edinburgh's Michael Swann Building, Max Born Crescent, Edinburgh EH9 3BF, on Wednesday 10 June 2015 at 6pm until 8.30pm. Doors open at 5:30pm. Tickets are free from http://bit.ly/1cI7N0v or by calling 0131 650 5753.
