Assembly Roxy Spring Comedy Season 2015

Tucked away in the auld toun just off Drummond Street, Assembly Roxy is best known a Fringe venue. The former church is now into its second year as a year-round arts and events venue coming under the wings of Assembly and is building a reputation for having a programme of live music, theatre, comedy and events. Assembly Roxy is home to a 200-seat theatre space upstairs, in addition to the monumental central hall and cosy snug bar downstairs, offering an innovative space for exhibitions with an added sense of history.

Assembly Roxy is delighted to announce some of their upcoming Spring programme of comedy as they bring some Fringe favourites back to Edinburgh between March and May 2015. It begins with Seann Walsh and his current show that is a homage to a year of enormous change in his life as he makes efforts to become domesticated. A familiar face from BBC One’s Live at The Apollo and Channel 4’s Stand Up for the Week, Walsh is a master storyteller who seamlessly marries the everyday with elements of the absurd to produce an hour of observational comedy.

“One of comedy’s hottest properties…very funny” Bruce Dessau, The Evening Standard

In April, two young comedians come to Roxy as part of their UK tour. Romesh Ranganathan and Suzi Ruffell who have previously supported the likes of Alan Carr, Kevin Bridges, Bill Burr and Ricky Gervais, are now embarking on their first headline tours following success in Edinburgh last year. Ranganathan returns to the city with Rom Wasn’t Built in a Day, a show that earned him a Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination in 2014 to go with his Best Newcomer nod from the previous year. Ruffell joins him with her show Social Chameleon, having being hotly tipped by The Guardian as a “stand-up gem”. The pair has appearances on shows such as Mock The Week, Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live and The Now Show under their belts between them, so this is an opportunity to see two rising stars of comedy do what they do best.
