Edinburgh's Lord Provost Donald Wilson and Scotmid's Malcolm Brown joined children from Stockbridge Primary School outside the Scotmid store in Raeburn Place, formerly a Woolworth store, to launch this year's Fairtrade Fortnight.
Running from Monday 25 February until Sunday 10 March, Fairtrade Fortnight will see a series of themed events taking place across the City, including food and drink tastings, talks, presentations, fairs, fetes and the presentation of the Lord Provost's Fair Trade Awards 2013.
This is the sixteenth annual Fairtrade Fortnight which was originally launched for Scotland alone. Now it is celebrated far and wide. In a ceremony in St Augustine's Church, George IV Bridge, Lady Marion Fraser LT, then chair of Christian Aid, broke a bar of Green and Black's chocolate to signal its beginning.
