Japanese sci-fi horror director Shinya Tsukamoto will not be attending the screening of three of his films, showing as part of a special "Spotlight" of his work at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
"Unfortunately we have received some sad news; Shinya Tsukamoto will now not be able to attend EIFF 2012. Shinya has had to remain in Japan due to family circumstances and thus will not be attending EIFF this year. We wish him all the best and hope that he makes it to Edinburgh in the future," the EIFF said in a statement yesterday.
The 52-year-old director's three films showing at EIFF 2012 are Kotoko, Tetsuo: The Iron Man, and Tetsuo II: Body Hammer (pictured above).
The EIFF, which opens later this month, recently announced its programme of films.
