Working
together for Scotland's Communities

In January 2008, The Scottish Community Broadcasting Network was established to bring together the 20 Licensed Community Radio to work
together to shape community broadcasting across Scotland.

positive relations within the sector and capitalise upon the shared experience,
knowledge and programming of the community radio station network, to help each
other and new stations to develop professional, disciplined and creditable
organisations, with high quality output.

From providing grassroots level community news , to promoting social inclusion, cultural
diversity and promoting health improvement, Community Radio stations across
Scotland, train and engage thousands of volunteers every year, in the skills of
radio broadcast, journalism and sound production to name but a few areas of
work. The work of these stations fits well within the Scottish Government's
"Skills Strategy".

This network is duty bound to help develop, provide
information and support for the emerging community media stations throughout Scotland.
As well as being tool to hothouse emerging talent for senior media by providing hands on
experience for youth and indeed all ages
within the community.

The SCBN will provide a collective Scottish community
communication platform accessible to all groups and individuals who have the
democratic benefit of the community at heart. This community media group will
be created and run without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste, colour or
age. It will seek to achieve and maintain the highest principals of democratic
