ROWAN TREE THEATRE COMPANY
PLAYWRITING COMPETITION
RESULTS TO BE ANNOUNCED ON THURSDAY 7 MAY IN PEEBLES
Rowan Tree Theatre Company's playwriting competition at the end of 2008 was the first of its kind in the South of Scotland. It drew entries from established and new writers from Wigtown in the west to Kelso in the east.
The results of the competition will be announced at a special lunch time event Ploughmen's Platters and Plays at the Eastgate Theatre, Peebles on Thursday 7th May at 1 pm when extracts will be read from the four shortlisted plays and the winners of the £1,500 prize money will be announced. The writers of the winning two scripts will then have the support of Playwrights' Studio Scotland in developing their plays with an experienced director.
The judges of the competition were Julie Ellen, Playwrights' Studio, Scotland, Judy Steel, Rowan Tree Theatre Company, and the actor Michael Mackenzie, who will also take part in the readings along with Gerda Stevenson, who received rave reviews for Rowan Tree's latest production, The Lasses, O, Matthew Burgess and Kate Moss Jones.
Tickets are £5 and include a Ploughman's Platter, available from the Eastgate Theatre Box Office. 01271 725777
