Edinburgh restaurants are top of their game, says Good Food Guide

When you want to know about restaurants, there are a few guides for the U.K. however nothing compares with the clarity and honesty of the Which organisation. Their lastest addition of The Good Food Guide 2010 was published this month.

Restaurants in Edinburgh and the Lothians did well.  The famous La Potiniere in Gullane retained it's cooking score of six ,and a new Restaurant The Dogs in Hanover Street entered the guide with cooking score of four. What I like about this guide it gives us the chance to add a customer recommendation like Fishers which is mentioned in this category. One small restaurant which received big praise,it scores very highly is Plumed Horse in Henderson street which had a cooking score of five. A well researched and honest guide to the good repast purveyors of the UK......John Ritchie      Editor

Edinburgh restaurants are top of their
game, says Good Food Guide

Edinburgh
restaurant The Dogs has been given the Best Value For Money award by The Good
Food Guide 2010
, published
today.

As a new entry, The Dogs wowed The Guide's
inspectors with its deceptively simple menu, and was praised as a "buzzy
bistro for credit crunch times".

The great news for Edinburgh doesn't end there,
with two restaurants also making it into The UK Top 50: Restaurant Martin
Wishart (14th), and The Kitchin (44th).

There are now an impressive 20 Edinburgh
restaurants in The Guide. The others are: Abstract; Atrium; The Balmoral,
Number One; The Bonham; Café St Honoré; Centotre; David Bann; Forth Floor; La
Garrigue; Haldanes at The Albany; Kalpna; Plumed Horse; Rhubarb at
Prestonfield; Valvona & Crolla Caffé Bar; The Vintners Rooms; Witchery by
the Castle and Fishers Bistro.

Elizabeth Carter, editor of The Good Food Guide,
says:

"Edinburgh has a wealth of
top restaurants, but particular acknowledgment goes to The Dogs for being
named the Best Value For Money Restaurant this year. It proves that an
affordable menu doesn't have to compromise on taste."
