Christmas in Queensferry expands
Scotland’s biggest Christmas Pageant just got bigger! The event will
run over the first weekend of December (Saturday 1 and Sunday 2), with
a Christmas Market; Classics by Candlelight; Torchlight Procession;
Street Entertainment; A Scary Walk around the ancient Royal Burgh;
Santa in his Grotto; a kiddies carousel; bouncy castle; climbing wall;
performances by Puss in Boots; plus
a Parade along the High Street led by Santa in his Sleigh.
And if that wasn’t enough, there will be a Big Comedy and Music Night
at the Staghead Hotel at 9pm on Thursday, December 6, led by Jojo
Sutherland …
Plus Puss in Boots will perform at the Scout Hall in Port Edgar from Thursday, December 6 – Saturday, December 8 at 7.15pm.
Event Organiser, Moira Cunningham, says: “It’s going to be great!
There’s just so much going on across the first week of December!”
Queensferry High Street will be closed to vehicles and parking from
8am-9pm on Sunday, December 2, along with the Binks Car Park. There
will be a Park N Ride system operating between Queensferry High School
on Station Road and the bus stop at the police station on Hopetoun
Road.
On Sunday, December 2, the Central Stage will have live
performances from 4.30pm. Acts include Queensferry High School Brass
Band; Forth Dimension; Queensferry Primary; Queensferry High School
Drama Group; St Margaret’s Primary; Puss in Boots; and Clan Wallace.
The Santa Parade will leave the Bellstane at 6.30pm on Sunday, December
2 and parade along the High Street to the Central Stage to join the
Ferry Fair Queen alongside Edinburgh’s Lord and Lady Provost plus Rev
John Carrie, Rev Terry Harkin and Father Tony McDonald.
The Hosts for the evening are the broadcasters Charles Fletcher and
Scott Findlater who’ll be on stage from 6pm – leading the Countdown to
Christmas lights and fireworks at 7pm.
