Barry Wright, Director of the Castle Concerts is today delighted to announce that one of the UK's best selling bands ever Boyzone will be playing Edinburgh Castle on Friday 18th July as part of the 2008 Edinburgh Castle Concert series.

This spectacular live concert, one of their first in 7 years! is destined to be one of the ultimate events of this year’s live calendar, it will see all five original members - Ronan Keating, Stephen Gately, Shane Lynch, Mikey Graham and Keith Duffy­ perform their first concert since Dublin’s Point Depot, January 13th, 2000.

"We've been talking about getting back together for some time now. The Children In Need rehearsals just made us want to tour together again," Ronan Keating admits. "I can't wait to be back on the road and all the guys feel the same. Our live shows were always great fun but this time it will definitely be the best night out ever!"

Formed in 1994, Boyzone achieved the best-ever start to a UK singles career with 16 consecutive Top 5 hits. Having scored 6 UK Number 1 singles, plus 4 Number 1 albums their total album sales tally exceeds 15 million, making them one of the UK's best-selling bands.

A spokesperson for Historic Scotland when asked about the latest addition to the Castle Concerts series said “Historic Scotland are delighted to welcome Castle Concerts back to the esplanade. Every year, the combination of the castle backdrop and the concerts create that magical, once in a lifetime venue for the bands to play and the audiences to enjoy”.

  2. Last year we introduced standing tickets along with the traditional stadium seating as used by the Tattoo. Boyzone is an all seated show.
  3. Some acts that have played The Edinburgh Castle Concert Series include; Blondie, Pink, Paul Simon, Rod Stewart, Elton John, Tom Jones, Westlife, Il Divo, Cliff Richard, James Taylor and Lionel Ritchie.
