About the venue

Murrayfield Stadium (also known as Scottish Gas Murrayfield after its current sponsor, and BT Murrayfield after its previous sponsor) is the home of Scotland's national rugby team, but also hosts other sports events, concerts, and sevens rugby tournaments.

Murrayfield opened on 21 March 1925, when a crowd of 70,000 watching a dramatic game where Scotland beat England 14-11 securing the nation's first ever Grand Slam.

The rousing Murrayfield atmosphere is often cited by sports commentators as being an important boost to the home team, especially in competitions against the "Auld Enemy".

While Murrayfield remains "the home of Scottish rugby" it has also hosted fixtures for competitions involving the round ball, American football, hockey, lacrosse, as well as rock concerts, highland games, and corporate hospitality events.

The all-seater stadium has a capacity of 67,800.
