Edinburgh Central Reference Library
Edinburgh's main public library, directly opposite the National Library of Scotland (copyright library) and just off the Royal Mile, is a useful resource open to all. Spanning several floors in a historic building, the library space contains books, extensive periodicals, newspapers, and electronic information. The Edinburgh Room has local literature and maps going back many years.
There is also a Music Library which is in a separate building next door to main Central Library building, as you walk away from the Royal Mile, down a flight of stairs.
The Library also has regular small archival exhibitions in the main hallway and stairwell.
Anyone can call the library for information and questions.
