Scotland’s Makar, Jackie Kay, to present at this year’s Critics' Awards for Theatre in Scotland

The annual ceremony of the Critics' Awards for Theatre in Scotland (CATS), that recognises the breadth of talent in Scottish theatre from directing and acting to design, technical and musical contributions, new writing and work for young people, will be held this weekend.

Every year, a guest presenter is invited to do the honours of passing on the prestigious award to the winners and this year that guest will be Scotland’s Makar, Jackie Kay.

Jackie Kay said, “Scotland has an amazing community of writers, musicians, artists and theatre practitioners who need to be cherished. The Critics' Awards are an important celebration of Scottish creativity and I am delighted to be a part of this year’s event.”

This year, Edinburgh’s Royal Lyceum Theatre tops the nominations across four different productions including Rhinoceros , that was co-produced with Edinburgh International Festival and DOT Theatre, Istanbul.

The 2018 CATS ceremony will take place at Perth Theatre this Sunday, 10 June from 4pm.
