IF comedy award 2006 winner in great style, was Phil Nicol, for his show the naked racist. Nicol is a multi-talented Canadian comedian and actor, who was in the award winning 12 angry men a few years ago at the Assembly and is up for yet another award for his acting. Much anticipated, discussed and championed by the industry, there is a new Award: the Panel Prize. Inspired by the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, there will be no shortlist for this Award which will be at the Panel’s discretion. The Award will be for the Act / Show that most captures the comedy spirit of the 2006 Fringe. Like the Fringe it will be unexpected, undreamed of and could encompass anything from a reinvented veteran or an extraordinary comedy stunt. And this years recipiant was Mark Watson.
