The Consulate General of Japan in Edinburgh together with the Japanese Studies department at the University of Edinburgh are delighted to welcome you to a free Japanese Film Festival at the University of Edinburgh. Appleton Tower (Lecture Theatre 4).
Each Friday from the 31st of January to 20th February we will be offering a free screening of a different contemporary Japanese film, accompanied by a short explanatory talk from a series of relevant speakers including members of the Japanese Department.

Please join us on Friday 20th January for our final screening, 2009 film, The Chef of South Polar at Appleton Tower (Lecture Theatre 4).
Directed by Shuichi Okita
Based on two autobiographical novels by Jun Nishimura, "Antartic Chef" centers around a research expedition living in Dome Fuji Station near the South Pole. A cook named Nishimura leaves his family behind in order to assist the expedition.
Doors open at 6pm and the introductory talk and film will start at 6.30pm. Simple refreshments and sushi will be served after the screening.
